This is a full-time position. The Code Enforcement Officer ensures compliance with Town codes and ordinances, including zoning, planning, property maintenance, and housing regulations. Responsibilities include conducting inspections, investigating complaints, issuing notices or citations, and preparing reports. The role also supports enforcement of specific ordinances such as rental housing, flood management, noise, and waste collection. Strong communication, record-keeping, and computer skills are essential. A high school diploma is required, with certification in the International Property Maintenance Code to be completed within six months.

Part Time Parking Enforcement Officer- Posted 1/2/2025

This is a part-time position, twenty hours guaranteed a week.  This job is a safety-sensitive position.  The parking enforcement officer for the Bloomsburg Police Department is to enforce all parking violations in the Town of Bloomsburg. This person interacts with the Chief of Police, Police Officers, Law Enforcement Administrative Assistants, Clerks, and the general public and must be able to retain composure when dealing with violators and explain the validity of said violation.

Operator/ Laborer Position- Posted 1/2/2025

The Town of Bloomsburg seeks a skilled Operator/Laborer to join the Department of Public Works/ Recycling. This role involves operating light to heavy equipment and vehicles, performing construction and maintenance tasks, and supporting the upkeep of Town roads and facilities and handling recycling curbside routes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate various equipment, including dump trucks, loaders, snowplows, and backhoes.
  • Perform manual labor for construction and maintenance projects.
  • Ensure safety procedures are followed and assist with tasks like loading/unloading.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Pennsylvania Commercial Driver’s License (Class A) or ability to obtain within six months.
  • Knowledge of equipment operations, construction, and maintenance practices.
  • Availability to respond to emergency “call outs” year-round.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and 100 pounds occasionally.

Work Environment:
The position involves outdoor work in all weather conditions, exposure to heavy equipment, and frequent physical activity.

Experience Required:

  • Two years of public works experience or four years in construction as an equipment operator/laborer.

Lifeguard Rules and Expectations

The Town of Bloomsburg expects lifeguards to maintain professionalism, prioritize safety, and adhere to the following guidelines:

  1. Professional Conduct: Always maintain a professional demeanor; patrons observe your actions both on duty and during breaks.
  2. Proper Attire: Wear the designated swimsuit every shift.
  3. Punctuality: Arrive on time for every scheduled shift.
  4. Preparedness: Always wear the rescue tube strap while on duty.
  5. Focus: Stay alert and avoid distractions, including unnecessary conversations with other guards.
  6. Enforce Pool Rules: Know and enforce pool rules consistently. Warn rule violators with a whistle and address issues promptly.
  7. Escalation of Issues: Report persistent patron issues to the Pool Coordinator or acting guard for resolution.
  8. Consistency: Apply rules uniformly to all swimmers.
  9. Surveillance: Regularly count swimmers to ensure safety.
  10. Behavior: Refrain from inappropriate actions, like hitting others with toys or noodles.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Accurately complete timesheets, rounding to the nearest 15 minutes.
  • When not actively guarding, assist with cleaning or other tasks.
  • Follow instructions from the Coordinator/ Head guard filling in
  • Occupy high stand chairs unless directed otherwise.
  • Prioritize pool safety above all.

Operational Duties:

  • Only the Coordinator handles chemicals
  • Ensure all opening and closing duties are completed, with signing off on tasks.
