What is a Code Blue Alert?
A Code Blue Alert will be issued by the Town Mayor if one of the below occurs.
a. Temperatures of 32 degrees Fahrenheit or lower; or
b. The National Weather Service wind-chill temperature will be zero degrees Fahrenheit or
lower for a period of two hours or more; or
c. Snow predictions of 12” or more are in the forecast; or
d. Anytime a combination of rain, sleet, snow, with temperatures of 32 degrees (with wind-chill) are forecasted.
A Code Blue event means that AGAPE is an approved Emergency Shelter in the Town of Bloomsburg may open.
The purpose of the Code Blue Emergency Policy is intended to provide notice of adverse winter weather conditions to the general public and social services agencies that provide services to at risk individuals living outdoors, on the streets, in parks or poorly insulated settings, and those who may find themselves at risk for cold related exposure due to defects in home heating systems.
CODE BLUE is in effect beginning 8 p.m. on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 and is anticipated will last up through 8 a.m. on Monday, December 16, 2024.
AGAPE will be open from 8 p.m. – 8 a.m. during the Code Blue Alert. It is a Code Blue overnight only accommodation for the evening and night hours (8:00 p.m. – 8:00 a.m.). One must show up prior to 10 p.m.
