The Town has been awarded $118,900 from the PA Fish and Boat Commission to fund the West End Boat Launch, located where the Susquehanna River meets Fishing Creek. This grant was awarded on April 24, 2023, as part of the state’s initiative to ensure Pennsylvania’s recreational anglers and boaters continue to have access to high-quality facilities on our waterways.
This funding represents half of the total project cost. The remaining amount will be matched by a DCNR grant, allowing the project to move forward in 2025.
🚶♂️🚴♀️ As part of the Bloomsburg Area Recreational Trail (BART) plan, improvements will also include a reconfiguration of the sharp turn near the soccer fields. This adjustment will improve safety for motorists, pedestrians, and cyclists, and create a proper parking area.
🔧 Construction is expected to be completed by September 18, 2025. During this time, no parking will be permitted in the area to ensure public safety. Please plan accordingly.
🙌 A huge thank you to Andy Keister of LIVIC Civil for serving as the lead engineer on this exciting project!
Stay tuned for more updates as we enhance recreational access and safety for everyone!
