The Town of Bloomsburg Civil Service Commission will be conducting Civil Service Examinations for the position of full time Police Officer. The Bloomsburg Police Department is a progressive agency serving 14,855 residents and the Bloomsburg University community. The Police Department advocates strong community policing while proactively addressing public safety issues. The agency contains bicycle patrols, community based educational programs, criminal investigations, a drug task force, DUI/alcohol enforcement, patrol, parking, records, warrants and a special tactics unit. Applications are available at the Bloomsburg Police Station located at 119 E. 7th Street, Bloomsburg, PA 17815 Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Applicants must be Act 120 certified. Applicants must have reached their 21st birthday prior to the written examination, hold a valid PA driver’s license and move within fifteen miles of the Town within one (1) year of the date of hire. Starting annual wage in 2020 is $50,281.14 with an excellent benefits package. Applicant must successfully complete a one-year probationary period. Candidates will be subjected to a written examination, one or more oral examinations, criminal history, personal and financial background checks, medical, psychological, physical agility test and polygraph examinations. Completed application and pertinent documents must be returned to the Town of Bloomsburg Police Station no later than 4:00 p.m. on Friday, August 14, 2020 along with a non-refundable check or money order in the amount of $50.00. The Town of Bloomsburg assumes no responsibility for applications not received by any mailing service including the United States Postal Service. The written Civil Service examination will be held Saturday, August 29, 2020 beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the Bloomsburg Area Middle School Cafetorium, 1100 Railroad Street, Bloomsburg, PA.
