The Town of Bloomsburg Civil Service Commission will be conducting Civil Service Examinations for the position of a full time Police Officer. The Bloomsburg Police Department is a progressive agency serving 14,855 residents and the Bloomsburg University community. The Police Department advocates strong community policing while proactively addressing public safety issues. The agency contains bicycle patrols, community based educational programs, criminal investigations, a drug task force, patrol, parking, records, warrants and a special tactics unit. Applications and a $50 processing fee will be accepted through Friday, July 9, 2021 by 4 p.m. at the Bloomsburg Police Department. The annual wage in 2021 is $51,789.57. Upon completion of a year of probation the annual wage is $66,050.11 in 2022. This position also has an excellent benefits package consisting of a holiday compensation package, 12 hours of sick time accrual per month, two weeks of paid vacation after completing the first year of service and four paid personal days in a calendar year, a defined benefit pension plan, health and vision care covering family, long term disability, longevity pay and a $80k life insurance policy. Applicant must successfully complete a one-year probationary period. Candidates will be subjected to a written examination, one or more oral examinations, criminal history, personal and financial background checks, medical, psychological, physical agility test and polygraph examinations.
